NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 6, 2018)  Tennessee’s young voters are some of the least civically engaged in the country, according to a new report on youth civic education and participation released today by nonpartisan think tank ThinkTennessee and postsecondary advocacy nonprofit Complete Tennessee.

The sixth in a series of policy briefs related to ThinkTennessee’s State of Our State 2018 dashboard, the study finds that Tennessee ranks at the very bottom of the nation for youth voter registration and youth voter turnout—40 out of the 41 states for which data is available.  Just 31.1% of eligible voters aged 18-24 participated in the 2016 presidential election.
